MEMBERSHIP

1. Membership in grades appropriate to qualifications is available to all individuals of any nationality.

2. Full Membership - M.N.l. - is awarded to holders of an Unlimited Foreign-Going Master's Certificate of Competency from a recognised marine administration and other appropriately qualified mariners.

3. Associate Membership - A.M.N.I. - is awarded to those who hold Foreign Going Watch-keeping Certificates of Competency. 

4. Associate is the grade awarded to those with Coastal Watch-keeping Certificates of Competency. 

5. Companion C.M.N.I.- is the grade awarded to anybody who has an interest in the activities of the Institute but who does not hold nautical qualifications. 

6. Student membership is available to those studying to become Associates or Associate Members.
